The frigate FRIEDRICH WILHELM ZU PFERDE belonged to the Brandenburg fleet of the Grosse Kurfuerst in the years 1685 - 1693. This ship had typical Dutch construction features. Built as a two decker she carried 54 cannons and had a crew of 200. The overall length over all was 52 m.
In 1693 she was captured and burned near the straight of Gibraltar by three French ships, when these were returning home from a journey to the Caribbean Sea.
Built in 1660, the Fredrich Wilhelm zu Pferde was a formidable German vessel of 900 tons. Sailing to Africa and teh Shetland Islands, she carried a crew of 250 men and 50 to 60 cannons.
